Ahnixware Pocket Brawler: Student EditionI teach a few classes at a non-profit that exposes children in grades 2-12 to all sorts of great stuff from theatre to atomic physics. One of the classes I teach is a course in how to make pixel art for games.
The final project is to create a fully animated character for a fighting game. On the first rendition of this class, I stayed up all night coding an engine the kids' character could go into. The engine architecture had to be extremely modular allowing me to just plop in each character with minimal coding afterwards. I've since upgraded it quite a bit and am continuing to improve it whenever I get a chance. *NOTE: The only art work I've contributed to its current state is the logo design, and a couple characters, all the other characters were made by my students. The background art and tiles used in the world were ripped from the internet to use as placeholder art until a student decides to make something to put in the game. This project is for my students and is not monetized. |
